Science Comes to Your Classroom
No buses. No permission slips. No travel headaches. DMNS educators bring live, hands-on science programs directly to your school — or ship a self-contained kit with everything your class needs to explore. Real museum-quality science, right where your students are.
Wonder Workshops bring the DMNS experience directly to your community. A trained DMNS educator arrives at your school with all the equipment, specimens, and supplies needed to deliver a fully facilitated 45-minute science program. No prep required from you — just an open space and eager students.
Programs are available Monday through Friday, year-round, with weekend sessions available on a case-by-case basis. Schools within a 90-minute drive of DMNS (2001 Colorado Blvd, Denver) qualify for Wonder Workshops — if you're on the edge of the service area, contact us and we'll confirm availability.
You can book up to 4 sessions per day. Need to serve a large school? Book multiple sessions in the same room — students rotate through as groups of up to 30. Our educator resets between sessions (allow 15 minutes between each). Days with 4 sessions require a 30-minute lunch break that cannot fall at the start or end of the day.
Book at least 21 days in advance. Different programs on the same day require separate orders.
Session Capacity & Scheduling
Each session holds a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 30 students. Groups of 30–35 may be possible with advance approval — contact us to discuss. Groups of 36 or more must book multiple sessions with students rotating through the same room. Each session is 45 minutes long; bilingual sessions run for one full hour. Allow at least 15 minutes between consecutive sessions for equipment reset.

Grades Pre-K – 2
Dino Detectives
Students think like paleontologists, examining fossil casts, bone structures, and fossil evidence to piece together the story of prehistoric life in Colorado.
Ages 4 – 7
Wild Senses
Young learners explore how animals use sight, sound, smell, and touch to survive, using real animal specimens and sensory investigations.
Grades 3 – 6
Mission to Mars
Students become NASA engineers, designing and testing rovers, analyzing Martian terrain data, and solving real-world engineering challenges.
Grades 4 – 8
Body Systems in Motion
Students investigate how the skeletal, muscular, and circulatory systems work together through physical modeling and hands-on experiments.
Grades 4 – 8
Invisible Forces
Hands-on exploration of magnetism, static electricity, and gravity — students conduct experiments that reveal the forces shaping the world around them.
Curiosity Kits give any Colorado teacher access to museum-quality science experiences without travel constraints. Each kit contains all the materials, specimens, and educator resources needed to lead multiple hands-on lessons over the course of a week. No DMNS educator needed — the kit is designed for confident independent delivery.
Kits are available to any school or organization with a Colorado address. They cannot be shipped out of state. One kit serves up to 35 students per session; each kit can be used multiple times throughout the week with enough supplies for up to 105 students. Groups over this size must book a second kit.
Kits are delivered and picked up on a weekly schedule. Book at least 10 days in advance to reserve your kit and confirm delivery.
Two Ways to Receive Your Kit
🚐 Courier Kit - For schools within 40 miles of DMNS. A DMNS courier delivers and picks up the kit weekly (Tuesday–Friday). Kits arrive at the start of the week and are picked up at the end.
📦 UPS Kit - For schools 41+ miles from DMNS (within Colorado). The kit ships via UPS on a biweekly Tuesday–Friday schedule. Return shipping label included.

Service Area
Wonder Workshops are available to schools within a 90-minute drive of DMNS. Curiosity Kits ship to any Colorado school or organization. Not sure if you qualify? Contact us and we'll confirm your eligibility.
Your Space
Wonder Workshops fit in a standard classroom, library, or cafeteria. Body Systems in Motion requires a larger open space (gym or outdoor area). No special setup is needed — our educator brings everything and handles all setup and cleanup.
Scheduling Tips
Book as early as possible — dates fill quickly, especially fall and spring. For multi-session Wonder Workshop days, plan around the 15-minute reset between sessions. Four-session days require a 30-minute midday break.
Accessibility
All Wonder Workshop and Curiosity Kit programs are designed with inclusive learning in mind. Let us know about any specific student needs when booking and we'll work with you to ensure every student can fully participate.
What's the difference between Wonder Workshops and Curiosity Kits?
Wonder Workshops are live, facilitated programs led by a DMNS educator who comes to your school. The educator brings all materials and leads your students through hands-on investigations. These require advance scheduling, fall within our 90-minute service radius, and are session-based.
Curiosity Kits are self-contained kits that ship to your school. You — the classroom teacher — lead the activities using the included guide and materials. These work for any Colorado school, are great for remote or rural communities, and can be used over a full week on your own schedule.
How do I know if my school is within the Wonder Workshops service area?
Wonder Workshops are available to schools within a 90-minute drive of DMNS (2001 Colorado Blvd, Denver, CO 80205) based on typical morning traffic. When you begin the booking process, enter your school's zip code and address — our system will check your eligibility automatically. If your school is on the boundary, contact us directly and we'll confirm with our travel team.
Can we book multiple Wonder Workshop sessions on the same day
Yes — up to 4 sessions per day. Student groups rotate through the same room as each session finishes. Allow 15 minutes between sessions for the DMNS educator to reset the space and materials. If you're booking 4 sessions, you'll also need to schedule a 30-minute lunch break for the educator that does not fall at the very beginning or end of the day.
Note: if you want two different programs on the same day, those must be booked as separate orders.
Do we qualify for a scholarship?
Schools where 49.5% or more of students qualify for Free & Reduced Lunch (FRL) may be eligible for a 50% scholarship on Wonder Workshops and Curiosity Kits. Enter your FRL percentage during the booking process and the discount will be applied automatically.
Please note that the Bus Fuel Fund (BFF) is only available for onsite museum visits — it does not apply to offsite programs.
How far in advance do I need to book?
Wonder Workshops: Book at least 21 days in advance.
Curiosity Kits: Book at least 10 days in advance to ensure delivery scheduling.
Both programs are popular and dates fill quickly — especially in fall and spring. We recommend booking as early as you can to secure your preferred dates.
Are bilingual Wonder Workshops available?
Yes — four of the five Wonder Workshop programs are available in bilingual (English/Spanish) delivery: Mission to Mars, Wild Senses, Body Systems in Motion, and Invisible Forces. Dino Detectives is currently available in English only.
Bilingual sessions run for one full hour (vs. 45 minutes for English-only sessions) to allow for thorough bilingual instruction. Indicate your preference when booking — availability may vary by date.
What happens if my Curiosity Kit arrives damaged or is missing materials?
Contact us immediately at offsite@dmns.org or 303.370.6000. We'll work quickly to get you replacement materials or a partial credit depending on the situation. Please inspect your kit on arrival day and report any issues before the week of programming begins.
Can Curiosity Kits be used over multiple weeks?
Each kit booking covers one week (Monday delivery, Friday pickup). If you'd like to use a kit for a second or third week, you can book additional consecutive weeks — subject to availability. Each week is a separate booking at the standard $120 rate (or $60 with scholarship).
