Blended Course - The Social-Emotional Brain: Harnessing humanity to reach common goals

What does the science of learning teach us about emotion regulation, motivation, belonging, and agency? What makes for deeply satisfying learning experiences? How can we use insights about these questions from field-tested mind and brain science research to improve classroom equity and get our students to voluntarily own their learning? This course aims to give you tools that you can walk away with tomorrow as well as the opportunity to interact with peers and experts, giving YOU the deeply satisfying learning experiences you need to stay motivated. Topics: • Equity & Belonging • Triggering Flow State • Mindset • The Role of Choice • Strategies for student metacognition and growth tracking.

This is a blended course that consists of three onsite events and online work done in between the onsites: In-Person Jan 8 & 22, 2022 (8am-3pm), February 5 , 2022 (9am-noon) On-Line (Asynchronous) Jan 9-Feb 5 Three Weekly Implementation Assignments & Discussion Forum ( approx 2-3 hrs per week for 3 weeks) 2.0 Graduate level relicensure credits are included in the cost of the course.
